Building Product Information Regulations (BPIR)
Whilst our doors and windows are made from a range of specialist sections, the requirements to fulfil both a building compliance role and an architectural role, we need to design and engineer the finished door or window as a system. Each design needs bespoke and tailored engineering and a thorough assessment, normally backed up by physical testing. You will be provided with a detailed drawing, specification, and compliance paperwork to provide to your building consent authority (BCA). In the case of a fire window or door, the item will be supplied with a tag that contains a unique serial number and states the standard or code to which it complies.

If you are unsure of what codes or standards apply, please contact our office, who will be pleased to assist you. Please quote the tag number, and we can trace the information that would have been provided at the time of supply.

Water Test Training
E2 Compliance (Water Leakage)
Our window and door systems are designed to:
-
prevent water entry
-
prevent water absorption and transmission
-
prevent the accumulation of water
-
allow for dissipation.

In addition to water leakage testing that our steel profile suppliers have undertaken, Steelguard has commissioned its own testing and compliance reporting, specifically for the New Zealand market. Furthermore, we use WGANZ 501 and 502 methods for field testing to ensure correct installation on-site.

On-site testing of full systems simulates real-world weather conditions - replicating wind-driven rain and pressure differentials to ensure every window and door performs as intended. Each test is carefully monitored, documented, and benchmarked against compliance standards, giving our clients confidence that their systems will stand up to New Zealand’s demanding environment.
Fire Protection
Our fire-rated window and door systems are designed, tested, and approved to prevent the spread of fire in buildings.
Every detail, from material selection to fabrication and installation, is carefully considered to maintain performance under pressure and help contain the spread of fire. This process not only supports compliance with New Zealand building code requirements but also provides confidence that our systems will protect lives and property when it counts.
We also hold field of application endorsements by BRANZ for our windows and doors, showing our commitment to compliance.
