DESIGN & ENGINEERING SERVICES FOR STEEL WINDOWS
Steelguard employees provide a high-quality CAD service using SOLIDWORKS and in-house CAD personnel. For our customers, this means greater confidence, less hassle, and a team that understands the needs of a job from design through to installation. With our “designer assist” service, we can provide standard detailing to help you better integrate our window and door systems into your drawings, along with performance and specification data. Steelguard has developed a comprehensive SolidWorks library, therefore reducing our drawing time and making integration into BIM design projects seamless.

Autocad

AutoCAD is a computer-aided design (CAD) software used by architects and engineers to create highly accurate 2D drawings and 3D models of buildings and components. It allows users to build up a digital version of a structure layer by layer, defining exact dimensions, materials, and construction details. The 3D modelling capability helps visualise how elements fit together in real space, while the 2D drawings extracted from the model are used for documentation and construction.

In architectural workflows, AutoCAD serves as the central design tool that coordinates information across disciplines such as architecture, structural engineering, and services engineering. Changes made in the model update across drawings to help maintain accuracy throughout the design process.

AutoCAD DWG files are the industry standard for architectural drawings; ultimately, our 3D designs need to be translated for approvals, etc. You will normally be presented with a PDF containing the critical information you need to sign off on for the design prior to fabrication.
SolidWorks
SolidWorks dramatically improves the way we develop and manufacture window and door products. As the foundation for the entire SOLIDWORKS suite of product development solutions, SOLIDWORKS CAD packages cover design, simulation, cost estimation, manufacturability checks, CAM, sustainable design, and data management.
Our new SOLIDWORKS 3D CAD licenses include a subscription with Cloud Services, which connects SOLIDWORKS CAD data to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, providing new capabilities to share and mark up 3D designs with anyone, a place to securely store and access designs, and the ability to formally manage design changes.

We are able to leverage the benefits of building your new windows and doors in 3D before we even cut a piece of steel. This is valuable as it allows us to ensure that complex geometries like folding and sliding doors work, and we can control gaps and tolerances.
We also have a BIM Level 2 qualified professional to assist with the design process.
FEA - Finite Element Analysis
When required, our scope can include the full structural design and include PS1, as well as any project-specific fire test or assessments that may be required. This service will be a fee that will be added to the project. Please contact us with details of your requirements. We can also use ECI (early contractor Involvement) to maximise the return and value of your new windows and doors.

Sam
• CAD Draftsman
Sam has been part of the Steelguard team since 2018, bringing over 10 years of experience in technical design and manufacturing. As our in-house designer, he plays a key role in bridging ideas and production, coordinating technical drawings between architects, engineers, and the manufacturing team.
With a strong background in technical design and fabrication, alongside advanced CAD skills in SolidWorks and AutoCAD, Sam helps ensure Steelguard projects meet quality standards and run efficiently from design through to production.
